History

In the early 1980's a large number of children in St. Louis sustained fatal or near fatal injuries at the hands of their parents.  Findings by a Board of Inquiry determined that child maltreatment is not only preventable, but that prevention is highly cost effective if targeted appropriately.  At that time no existing agency was providing preventive services specifically targeted for child abuse and neglect, so Family Support Network was formed and incorporated as a not-for-profit agency in 1982.

Through the years, Family Support Network remains dedicated to strenghtening families in order to prevent child abuse and neglect through in-home services provided by Masters level professionals.  Our services include family counseling, parenting education, resource referral, follow-up and community-based partnerships.  Our goal is to stop the cycle of family violence before it happens and strengthen families, so that ultimately children are safe in their homes.
