Description:
The Family Therapist provides in-home parent education, psycho-education, skill-building, and clinical interventions to at-risk families.
Accountability:
The Family Therapist is trained, supervised, and evaluated by the Director of Clinical Services or Program Supervisor.
Specific Duties:
-Provides parent education, psycho-education, skill-building, clinical interventions, and follow-ups to assigned families.
-Provides case management and advocacy services to client families in order to ensure access to and full utilization of appropriate support services.
-Participates in and coordinates (when necessary) interdisciplinary treatment teams in order to ensure comprehensive supportive services to clients.
-Maintains accurate and current records for all assigned families in compliance with agency and funder requirements.
-Participates in individual supervision sessions as designed by his/her supervisor.
-Participates in clinical staffings, and participates on agency committees as determined with supervisor.
-Supervises practicum students when applicable.
-Attends seminars/workshops when appropriate to enhance knowledge and skills.
-Reports child abuse and neglect incidents immediately, when there is imminent risk. In all other cases, reports after consulting with supervisor.
-Participates in extra duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
-Broad theoretical base of individual, child, and family therapy, and the ability to implement a wide range of treatment modalities.
-Prior experience treating at-risk or abusive and neglectful families; a demonstrated capacity to professionally fucntion in the family's home setting.
-Prior experience with family therapy and home-based services.
-Knowledge of community organizations and resources available.
-Ability to work with a team of service providers and community organizations.
-Ability to work independently and autonomously.
-Good judgment and the ability to make decisions free from personal bias.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Culturally competent and able to work with diverse individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
-Availability to meet with clients 2 evenings a week.
Qualifications:
-A Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field. Missouri licensure (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT) is preferred.
