VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:

Direct Service Volunteers:

Mentors
Description:
  Family Support Network is seeking volunteer mentors to serve as positive role models to provide support, encouragement and guidance for clients in our programs.

Mentors are unpaid individuals that must be at least 18 years of age. Mentors must also
attend an agency orientation at the agency office; pass a Missouri and/or Illinois Division of Family Services background check for child abuse/neglect; and submit to a national criminal background check.

There is no specific training or experience necessary to mentor, but mentors must believe that the family is generally the best social unit to care for children and protect them from violence, and that parenting skills can be taught, modeled and subsequently learned. Mentors are requested to work directly with a family for a period of six months to one year. Indirect Service Volunteers:
Office Volunteer

Description: Office Volunteers are unpaid individuals who provide administrative services assisting office personnel and the management team. Office Volunteers works directly with and is evaluated by the assigned Family Support Network employee. Duties may include, but are not limited to assembling newsletters or mass mailings, answering phones, data entry, organizing office space, filing and much more. Board Member Volunteer
Description: Board Member Volunteers are unpaid individuals who serve on Family Support Network’s Board of Directors. Each Board Member has expertise in a specific area of the organization and serves on a minimum of one Board committee. Financial responsibility includes making at least one monetary gift per year to the agency. Board members are required to attend Board meetings which occur six times a year. Development Board Volunteer
Description:  Development Board Member Volunteers are unpaid individuals who serve on Family Support Network’s Development Board. Each Development Board member is to attend two meetings each year and purchase a table at the Every Child Needs a Hero Gala event each spring. They must also help recruit new Development Board members. Friends Against Abuse and Neglect Volunteer
Description:  FAAN (Friends Against Abuse and Neglect) is a group of young professionals dedicated to furthering the agency's mission by raising money and spreading the word about the organization. FAAN volunteers will work with the Director of Development and Marketing on various activities to expand the agency's comprehensive development and marketing program.

Committee Volunteer
Description: Family Support Network has various working committees that meet to discuss, plan and implement various activities for the agency. Committee volunteers are unpaid individuals who volunteer their time and expertise.  Committees currently in need of new volunteer leaders include: Marketing, Planned Giving, Development, Corporate/Business Giving, Trivia Night/Wine Tasting, and Every Child Needs a Hero Gala.
